Dental Fillings in West San Jose, CA

Dental Fillings are the most common treatment option when a patient has a cavity. Top of the line composite materials and Resin modified glass Ionomers. We will also do amalgam upon request but we are mostly mercury free dental practice. Doctors will discuss with you what is the best material for your case.

White is not always best. A cavity is essentially a part of your tooth that has been invaded by bacteria, to which the only treatment option is removing the part of the tooth that is affected. Once we do this, we use material to “fill” it in and rebuild the tooth back to form and function. We use a tooth-colored composite resin that is actually “bonded” to the tooth, that way you don’t have to worry about it falling out! We also apply a layer of desensitizer before we place the filling in order to ensure that you have the most comfortable experience after the filling is completed.

Caring for your Dental Fillings

Although we may have repaired the tooth with a dental filling it’s not an invincible solution. Proper home care is extremely important in taking care of any fillings you may have. Just like an initial cavity, fillings can get what we call “recurrent decay”, which is where bacteria penetrate to the junction where the dental fillings meets the tooth. Anytime there is recurrent decay more extensive treatment may be necessary, so we want to make sure that doesn’t happen! As long as you are brushing and flossing properly twice a day there shouldn’t be too much to worry about.
