At times the tooth requiring treatment has a complex root or the infection is such that it needs a specialist to examine and complete root canal therapy. Dr. Shane Chou, along with Dr. Ted Chou can all work closely with you. If necessary, a specialist will review your treatment case. Then we send necessary records to their office. Finally we will place the crown restoration after your root canal is completed.
We numb the area so that you don’t feel discomfort during the root canal procedure. Then, we remove any damaged tooth surfaces or cavities and make an opening into the nerve chamber. The chamber is cleaned and medicated. Then we place a filling material into the nerve canal and chamber to prevent bacteria from re-entering the area.

Most root canals require only one to two appointments. Once the root canal is complete, the tooth is no longer vital. Placing a crown over the tooth can allow the tooth to withstand normal use for several more decades. A temporary filling then placed in the tooth while a permanent crown is custom made.
